1st Year 1- Reading (001) aims to introduce students with reading skills. The text designed for students of English as a second or foreign language who have a basic vocabulary in English of about 300 words. This text teaches about 500 more words. It also teaches the reading skills of comprehension, finding the main idea, and using the context to understanding vocabulary items. All of the new vocabulary items are used several times in the lesson and then are systematically recycled throughout the text. Writing (001) enables students to write paragraphs. Throughout the semester, the students are taught how to make sentences. The students also learn how to combine sentences to make paragraphs. They study the rules of punctuation. They also learn different forms of verbs and the rules of capitalization etc. Grammar (001) enables students to use tenses correctly. It enables them to use different verb forms correctly and identify different types of pronouns. Listening (001) uses listening text to help students improve their listening skills and language competence. The focus of the course will be on practical language use. Every student will perform these tasks numerous times within the class and in the laboratory. Extensive use will be made of audio and visual materials to train the students to listen to the language used in different situations. This course aims to develop students’ basic English language grammar skills to cope with the requirements of Academic study (bachelor’s degree Level) at Qassim Private Colleges, in the Department of English It continues what is achieved in grammar ENG 001. Students practice the new structures in a variety of contexts to help them internalize and master them. This course intends to Listening 002 introduces students to concentrate while listening and develop general listening skills and identify general ideas in the listening passage. They improve the general ability to speak English more clearly and accurately. It enables the students to use grammatical cues to determine and control stress in words and sentences and identify and accurately change intonation patterns to indicate different meanings, such as a question, statement, and contrast, etc. Prerequisite: ENGL 001 2- The first course of calculus-based, general physics sequence.
