Almustaqbal University Excels in the Second Gulf International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management

Almustaqbal University, represented by the College of Engineering and Computer Science, participated in the Second Gulf International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management, held at Sultan Qaboos University in the Sultanate of Oman from December 1 to December 3, 2024.

The university’s team distinguished itself by securing second place in the Human Factors Engineering track. Dr. Mohammed Hatim Al-Haj, along with students Anas Al-Anzi, Omar Al-Akkad, and Asim Al-Turbaq, presented a research paper titled “Designing a Smart Device to Assist the Blind and Visually Impaired.” The research proposed an innovative system that includes smart glasses equipped with cameras for facial recognition, a handheld device with sensors to detect nearby obstacles, and a location-tracking program to assist in monitoring users when necessary. The aim of this project is to enhance the independence of visually impaired individuals and improve their overall quality of life.

Additionally, student Ruba Al-Khuzaim from the Computer Engineering Department presented a scientific paper titled “Air Pollution and Quality Monitoring Device with a Weather-Based Smart Umbrella Using IoT Technologies.” This research was conducted in collaboration with Dr. Nasr Al-Din Hammami, Dr. Abdelhamid Fawzi, Dr. Mohammed Hatim Al-Haj, and students Ruba Al-Sidrani and Ruba Al-Khuzaim.

This achievement highlights the university’s commitment to fostering student excellence, advancing scientific research, and developing innovative technological solutions that benefit society and promote sustainable development. These efforts align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, showcasing the university’s dedication to creating a positive and lasting impact.

:Terms of participation

1-Participation is open to all college students.

2-FIFA 23 version is the approved one for this tournament on the PS4 platform.

3-The participant is considered withdrawn if they are delayed for more than 10 minutes from the start of the match, and the other competitor advances to the next round.”

4-The duration of each match is 10 minutes.

5-The tournament will be held in person on the ground floor at the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

6-The tournament is held with a single-elimination system for the loser in one round.

Scientific Seminar Entitled “MIMO antenna matrix for 5G millimeter waves”

The Scientific Research Committee of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, along with the Department of Electronics and Communications, organized a scientific seminar titled “5G Millimeter Wave MIMO Antenna Arrays”. The seminar was presented by Dr. Rania Hamdi on Thursday, October 5th.

The seminar discussed the latest developments in 5G cellular communication technology, with a focus on 5G millimeter wave MIMO antenna arrays. Various technical and application aspects related to antenna technology were discussed during the seminar.

The seminar resulted in several important learning outcomes, including:  

  1. Clarification of advanced methods for analyzing and designing 5G millimeter wave MIMO antenna arrays.
  2. Providing an overview of recent developments in 5G antenna technology.
  3. Enhancing researchers’ and students’ understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with 5G antenna technology.
  4. Applications of these millimeter wave antennas in the medical sector.

The Scientific Research Committee of the College of Engineering and Computer Science and the Department of Electronics and Communications organized a seminar titled “Analysis and Design of High Gain Lens Antennas”. The seminar was presented by Dr. Walaa Mohamed Sobhy AbdelAziz Hassan on Tuesday, October 3rd.

The seminar discussed the latest developments in high gain lens antenna technology, with a focus on the analysis and design of the antennas. Various technical and application aspects related to antenna technology were discussed during the seminar.

The seminar was presented by Dr. Eman Salem Abdelaziz on Monday, October 2nd.

The seminar discussed the latest developments in FPGA technology, focusing on the design and implementation of a high-speed Ethernet system using ASIC and FPGA technologies. Various technical and application aspects related to FPGA technology were discussed during the seminar.
